DESCRIPTION:
Wm. L. Gilbert, OFFICE DROP CALENDAR, C.1881, with Maranville type rotating disc simple calendar with month and days of the week, in a walnut case with carved trim and burled accents. Note Gilbert used paper discs, moved by a pointer, to evade the Maranville patent.
CONDITION:
Walnut and burl veneered case in an old finish with a small veneer chip and a small patch on the upper door. The main paper dial is new {well done by the Dial House}, but the day and month dials are original. Calendar hand is a replacement. Hour and minute hand are original. Pendulum is original. Tablet glass is original. Dark label inside case. Ht 34"
